The Heritage Council sponsors a program to develop community flowerbeds for the beautification of the downtown. We have created new beds at the Elk County Courthouse and in the Rite-Aid parking area, as well as planting perennials under the trees on Main Street. In 2004, two new flowerbeds were created around the two new “Welcome to Ridgway” signs that were installed in the spring. Eventually we plan to have hanging baskets on the light poles. We are also working on creating a watering program, which is essential to the long-term success of a great downtown flower program.
